It’s been a while since we’ve posted, but the ARCO Lab team has had a busy winter! In addition to working hard on courses and research, we set up our first server, the Robotic Analysis and Intelligent Computation HUb (RAICHU) in a new lab space.

At the end of the fall semester, everyone was rightfully exhausted from teaching and taking courses on microrobotics, state estimation, scientific computation, and more. We took a break to go bowling at University Lanes, followed by dinner at Caro on James.

At the end of January, we found out that our collaborative work with HeART Lab on Optimal Magnetic Actuation SysTem ARrangement (OMASTAR) was accepted at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2025! Congratulations to Hussein for assisting HeART Lab’s Veerash Palanichamy with applying a convex relaxation to a tricky binary integer programming formulation of permanent magnet placement. This is a milestone achievement: the first ICRA paper involving an ARCO Lab graduate student. Bravo!

Finally, Professor Giamou had the pleasure of visiting the Northeastern University Robust Autonomy Lab (NEURAL) over reading week in February! It was his first visit since finishing his postdoctoral researcher position in 2023, and he was welcomed by new and familiar friends.
