Matthew Giamou, PhD
Dr. Giamou is an assistant professor in the Department of Computing and Software at McMaster University. As director of ARCO Lab, he is interested in developing novel optimization techniques and applying them to fundamental problems in all aspects of robot perception and planning.

Masters Students

Hussein Saad
Hussein is pursuing his MSc in Computer Science. He is interested in geometry and optimization. His research with ARCO focuses on borrowing tools from differential geometry to develop optimization algorithms for problems in robotics.

Kiran Singh
Kiran is pursuing his Masters of Applied Science in Software Engineering. His work with the ARCO Lab focuses on developing tools to perform robust extrinsic sensor calibration for robotic applications.

Kiran holds a BESc in Mechatronic Systems Engineering from Western University. After completion of his undergraduate program, he worked at MDA Space as a member of the Systems Design Engineering team. In this role, he supported development of the integrated design for the Flight Segment and Machine Vision System elements for the Canadarm3 program – Canada’s contribution to the lunar Gateway space station.

Aliyah Jimoh
Aliyah is pursuing her MASc in software engineering with ARCO Lab. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering at Ontario Tech University and is interested in robotics, control systems, and programming.

Alaap Grandhi
Alaap is pursuing his MSc in Computer Science. His research with ARCO revolves around the use of equivariant machine learning to build robust and sample-efficient networks for problems in computer vision and robotics. He holds a Bachelor in Applied Science from the University of Toronto, with a specialization in Machine Intelligence.
